KUALA LUMPUR, May 18 — Google Malaysia has emerged as the top choice workplace for Malaysian employees in a survey conducted the country’s biggest job site Jobstreet, which was released today.

Google came out tops for the first time in the ‘Top 10 Companies Malaysians Want to Work For’  survey that involved 10,241 Malaysian employees across all position levels.

Petronas was ranked first last year, while Shell Malaysia came in third.

“The US based tech giant, well known for its culture of work life balance, managed to push itself all the way to the top, shifting up two places from last year,” Jobstreet said when releasing the survey results.

Six out of the top 10 companies in the survey were Malaysian companies.

Apart from Petronas, the other Malaysian firms are Sime Darby (4th), Air Asia (5th), Maybank (6th), Tenaga Nasional Berhad (9th) and Eco World Development Group Berhad (10th).

The other companies in the top 10 list were Nestle Malaysia and Intel Malaysia.

The top 10 list in itself remained largely unchanged, with nine out of the top 10 in the 2016 survey featuring again.

The only difference was Public Bank dropping out of the top 10, making way for Eco World instead.

The survey also showed that Malaysians cited career development opportunities as their main reason in choosing a company to work for.

Benefits and incentives came in as the second reason, while salary was stated as the third reason.
