KUALA LUMPUR, April 2 — The much anticipated face-off between former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and his critic Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz scheduled for this Friday is off for good.

The organiser Karangkraf Media Group managing director Datuk Hussamuddin Yaacub said he received a letter from Shah Alam district police chief Assistant Commissioner Shafien Mamat yesterday evening cancelling the initial permit granted just the day before, Sinar Harian reported last night.

“The reason given was there were objections from residents and after study and consideration from the aspect of public order the approval for this peaceful assembly is cancelled.
