JITRA, Nov 22 — The dumping of pig carcasses on the shoulder of the North-South Expressway flyover near Dewan Wawasan near here is not connected to the roadblocks by the authorities as became viral on Facebook today.
Kubang Pasu Police chief, Supt Abdul Hadi Hassan said this was because the task had not been conducted for sometime while speed traps could not be set up as the equipment involved was faulty.
“Police refute the incident was caused by enforcement activities conducted all these while. There is a possibility the carcasses fell out while being transported to another location,” he said when contacted by Bernama here today.
In this regard, he said the public was urged not to duped by the information that become viral because it could cause unease and panic especially among Muslims.
The Facebook page ‘I am from Jitra’ portrayed several photographs of pig heads and piles of pig carcases on the road shoulder purportedly due to the anger of residents against the police which often conducted roadblocks in the area.
The pictures were taken by members of the public who passed by the area this morning before they were shared on the Facebook of ‘I am from Jitra’. — Bernama
