SUNGAI SIPUT, Nov 8 ― The Perak Domestic Trade, Co-operatives and Consumerism Ministry (KPDNKK) seized 3,000kg of cooking oil worth about RM14,000, suspected to have been hoarded, in a raid at a shop selling prayer paraphernalia here today.

A team comprising eight enforcement officers conducted the raid about 11.30am.

Perak KPDNKK Anti-Profiteering Unit chief, Ahmad Ahrazzuddin Ahmad Hamdan said three men, including the owner of the premises, were facilitating investigations into the seizure.

“At the time of the raid, they were loading 150 boxes of cooking oil onto a lorry for delivery to a pig farm in Tanjung Rambutan. Each box contained 20 packets of cooking oil,” he told reporters here.

He said investigations revealed the premises had a licence to keep 500kg of cooking oil but the seizure indicated the cooking oil was in excess of that amount.

“The subsidised cooking oil was hidden in the premises,” he said, adding the premises had been operating since 2012. ― Bernama
