KOTA KINABALU, Aug 15 — A 51-year-old man has surrendered himself at the Tuaran police headquarters here after a man was shot to death yesterday during a hunting trip in the Rigi forest near Kampung Saradan, Tenghilan. 

The man handed himself in at about 10pm yesterday and is being held under remand for seven days from today to facilitate the investigation, said Sabah CID chief Datuk Salehhudin Abdul Rahman. 

He said police seized two home-made firearms or ‘bakakuk’ believed to have been used by the suspect and the victim during the hunting trip.  Salehhudin said in a statement that the 42-year-old victim died after he was shot on the left chest at about 7pm yesterday. 

The victim’s brother lodged a report on the incident at about 9.30pm, he said.  — Bernama
