IPOH, Feb 1 — Standard guidelines must be introduced for affordable homes to ensure only those who qualify or eligible can own such houses said Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Zambry Abdul Kadir.

Zambry said the set guidelines must include a standard specification, criteria, build up area and price per unit because currently every state has different specification and price for such houses.

“The price of affordable homes in states vary from RM300,000 to RM250,000 and RM180,000. The category of affordable houses is not standardised because different states have different build up area, price and criteria,” he told reporters after launching the Suria@Meru housing project’s portal RumahkuAmanjaya, here today.

Zambry said the state government would study all categories of affordable homes to ensure a standard price in the region of about RM250,000.

“It will be a challenging procedure because houses build in town or city limits could have a different valuation,” he said.

Speaking to reporters after the launch, Zambry also reminded Syarikat Perumahan Negara Bhd (SPNB) and Projek Perumahan Rakyat 1 Malaysia (PR1MA) to complete and deliver all projects in Perak, as promised.

“When SPNB and PR1MA promise to build affordable homes, the people expect such projects to be managed by the state government, therefore if there is any delay or failure, they (people) will feel I had lied or the state government had lied,” he said.

The Suria@Meru project at Zone 9, Bandar Meru Raya, is an affordable homes project by Perbadanan Kemajuan Negeri Perak and when completed in 2018 will offer 413 units with buildup area of 1,600sq ft to 1,670 sq ft and priced at between RM263,8000 to RM273,800.

The RumahkuAmanjaya portal, meanwhile, will offer information about property and houses for all types of transactions. — Bernama
