BUTTERWORTH, Dec 18 — A clerk injured her left leg when she threw herself out of the car she was driving in a bid to escape abduction in Perai here last night.
The 31-year-old woman leapt from the Perodua Viva at about 8pm as she was forced to drive the vehicle by a man who had a knife pointed at her, said Seberang Perai Tengah Police deputy chief Supt Baharom Abu.
He said the man had held her up as she was collecting her car from the parking lot of a shopping centre in Seberang Jaya here.
The man ordered her to drive towards Perai.
“The victim followed the man’s order for fear of being harmed and upon arriving in front of a factory in Perai, she leapt from the car and fell on the road.
“She sought the help of a bus driver there while the man drove off,” he said when contacted.
Baharom said the woman was wounded on the left leg and lost over RM1,000, her identity card, bank cards and driving licence which were in the car.
She lodged a report at the Bukit Mertajam police station and sought treatment at a private clinic here, he said.
Baharom said the woman’s car was found in the compound of a mosque in Seberang Jaya at about 3am.
The police have launched a hunt for the suspect, believed to be in his 30s. — Bernama
