KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 11 — The Magistrate’s Court here today transferred the case of the Indonesian man who allegedly owned a publication of the al-Qaeda terrorist group to the High Court.

Magistrate Siti Radziah Kamarudin made the decision after allowing the application by Deputy Public Prosecutor Raja Zaizul Faridah Raja Zaharudin that the case be moved to the High Court.

The accused, Hani Yahya, 39, an oil and gas consultant, was alleged to have possessed a publication linked to the terrorist group, Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula or AQAP.

He was alleged to have committed the offence at the compound of the Casa Mutiara Condominium, Jalan Hang Isap, Bukit Bintang, here at 9 pm on Sept 24.

He was charged under Section 130JB(1)(a) of the Penal Code which carries a jail sentence of up to seven years, or fine, and can be stripped of his rights for any publication, upon conviction. — Bernama
