ALOR STAR, Dec 2 — How does one console a man whose ‘apple of the eye’ – two adorable sons, aged three and five – were found slain with their throats slit in the comfort of the family home? And that one of the closest and most trusted of the man’s relatives was seen sitting in a corner of the house in Taman Wira, Sungai Petani, with a blood-stained kitchen knife in each hand? The death of his sons in that gruesome and cruel manner yesterday was too much for Tee Choi Peng, 36, to bear.
The cook based in Singapore broke down in tears when he arrived at the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital’s forensics department about noon today, to claim his children’s bodies.
When the bodies were carried into the hearse, Tee and his immediate family members, including the boys’ grandfather, Saw Weng Choon, 60, struggled to fight back the tears.
Tee refused to be interviewed by the media while Saw said he was unable to relate the incident as it was all too tragic to recount.
“Each time I try to talk about what happened, I find I simply cannot do it and just want to cry,” he told reporters.
About 3pm yesterday, the police detained a woman in connection with the killings, following discovery of the bodies by Saw. The suspect also had cuts on her hands.
Meanwhile, about 20 volunteers from the Tzu Chi Buddhist Association also held a special prayer session at the front entrance of the Forensics Department. — Bernama
