HULU TERENGGANU, Nov 17 — Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Tapu, Hulu Terengganu was named as the best national school under Level B (rural) Cluster Schools category in conjunction with the announcement of the Primary School Achievement Test (UPSR) results today.

State Education, Science Technology and Special Duties committee chairman Ghazali Taib said the school was also the top school in the state in terms of School Grade Point Average (GPS) having achieved 1.30 and minimum number of Grade C.

“Nine of the 21 candidates or 42.86 per cent managed to obtain 5A’s in the UPSR and the school also recorded 100 per cent passes in all subjects with minimum number of grade C.

“Despite being in the rural area and most of the students coming from low-income families with parents working as farmers and labourers, the students in this school still achieved success,” he told a press conference here today.

Also present to celebrate on the school’s success was straight As student, Siti Nur Ain Shafiqah Sheikh Abdul Aziz who was with her mother, Siti Nora Din, 35, a janitor at the school.

“I know I have to do well because I need to change the fate of my family as we all can only depend on my mother ever since my father passed away three years ago,” she said. — Bernama
