MUAR, Nov 17 — Six Nepalese man were arrested to facilitate investigations on the murder of a female school clerk in Muar yesterday.

Muar district police chief, ACP Azman Ayob said the suspects, aged between 25 and 43, were arrested several hours after the incident.

The 29-year-old clerk, whose identity was not disclosed by the police, is believed to have just arrived home when she was allegedly robbed and murdered in her house in Taman Setia Kasih Sungai Terap, about 2pm.

According to neighbours, the victim may have returned home at that time for lunch or to pick up something.

“But they (the neighbours) became curious when they realised the victim kept her car engine running even after entering the house, making them observe the house and its surrounding,” Azman said at a press conference here today.

He said the neighbours were surprised to find the front door open and called the police, before finding the victim, who was strangled with a rope, lying in the main room of the house.

Azman said, some jewellery, purse, cell phone and personal documents belonging to the victim were missing, but police did not find any weapon nor signs of forced entry at the scene.

“Right now, the investigation is focused on the robbery cum murder,” he said and urged the public to not spread false information or pictures of the victim on the social websites. — Bernama
