KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 1 — KTM Komuter fares will be increased from December, KTM Berhad reportedly said today.
The Star Online reported KTM Berhad chairman Datuk Nawawi Ahmad, who is also Langkawi MP from Umno, as saying that the new fares will come into effect on December 2, reportedly going up from 11 sen per km to 15 sen.
Nawawi reportedly said the fare hikes will not involve KTM Berhad’s Intercity trains.
Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) chairman Tan Sri Syed Hamid Albar reportedly said last month that fares for the light rail transit (LRT) and monorail will be revised, indicating that prices were likely to go up.
The purported fare hikes for KTM Komuter come after tolls at most highways in the Klang Valley were raised last month.
