GEORGE TOWN, Oct 11 — Police arrested a senior citizen believed to be running a prostitution ring, after raiding a hotel at Kampung Deli, here yesterday.
Northeast district police chief ACP Mior Faridalatrash Abdul Wahid said in the 4.40pm raid, a 67-year-old man together with eight Indonesian women, aged between 24 and 36, were arrested.
“Initial investigations revealed that the elderly man acted as a pimp while the eight women who had breached their social visit passes were offering sex services,” he said here today.
He said police also arrested a Bangladeshi man aged 25 years for allegedly soliciting sex at the hotel, to help investigations.
Police also seized several paraphernalia relating to prostitution, including notebooks, condoms, towels and lubricants.
Meanwhile, in another raid at 7.15pm last night, Mior Faridalatrash said police arrested three Indonesian women aged between 20 to 25 and a local man at a reflexology centre in Jalan Penang here.
“The 48-year-old man was arrested for harbouring and employing three Indonesian women who were without valid work permits,” he said. He said investigations also found that the reflexology centre was operating without a licence. — Bernama
