BUKIT MERTAJAM, Sept 4 — Four people, including two Iranians, were charged with having 324kg of drugs, at the Sessions Court yesterday.

No plea was recorded as judge Norhayati Mohamad Yunus fixed November 5 for mention pending a chemist report.

J. Balakrishnan, 57, from Taman Sri Rambai, B. Lacheme Devi, 52, from Solok Sungai Pinang, George Town and Iranians Mohammad Abbasi Younes, 23, and Syedmohsen Namazikivaj Seyedreza, 27, were alleged to have the methamphetamine at a small and medium industry unit in Sungai Rambai for distribution at 10.10pm on Aug 20.

The four were taken to the Penang prison as it is a non-bailable offence.

They face the mandatory death sentence if convicted.

Deputy public prosecutor Kamaliza Md Zain prosecuted, counsel V.S. Kumar represented Lacheme Devi while the other three were unrepresented.

In the same court, a 33-year-old primary school teacher claimed trial to stealing storage stools at a hypermarket in Alma, near here last month.

Ooi Aun Hock is alleged to have committed the offence at 1.22pm on August 15.

He was allowed RM3,500 bail on one surety with October 9 fixed for mention.

Deputy public prosecutor Lim Saw Sim prosecuted and Christine Khor Meow Wei represented Ooi.    

She posted bail.
