JOHOR BARU, Aug 26 ― In what the police suspect to be jealousy, a courier service company clerk was found strangled at her house in Taman Desa near Kluang today.

S. Chintra, 31, who had strangulation marks was found half-submerged in a bath tub filled with water at the bathroom of the master-bedroom of the house in Taman Desa.

Kluang police chief ACP Mohamad Laham said initial investigations revealed that her murder could have been fuelled by jealousy.

He said a struggle could have ensued between the victim and her assailant at the master-bedroom before she was strangled and the body dumped in the bath tub.

He said Chintra's father and cousin stumbled on the body at the bathroom as the victim had earlier failed to return to her office after going out for lunch.

“About 3.30pm, the cousin had called her through the mobile phone but when the call went through, there was no answer on the other end before the call was cut off.

“The cousin became suspicious and contacted Chintra's father before they found the body in the bathroom after breaking down the bedroom door,” added Mohamad in a statement here.

Although the police found Chintra's gold locket beside a bed at the master-bedroom, he said the victim's other valuables found missing were two mobile phones, several other pieces of jewellery and the ignition key to her Perodua Myvi.

Mohamad said the body was sent to the Enche' Besar Hajjah Khalsom Hospital in Kluang. ― Bernama
