KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 23 — Lim Kit Siang poured scorn today on Datuk Abdul Aziz Kaprawi’s claim that the DAP is backed by Jewish funders and labelled the Umno deputy minister just another “boot-licker” of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s.

The DAP adviser asked if Abdul Aziz truly believed that all three million of his colleagues in Umno would believe such a story, adding that it was shocking that he would dare make such an assertion in the presence of other party leaders.

“I do not know whether to laugh or to cry when I read that Abdul Aziz told his division’s meeting in Parit Raja, Johor yesterday that the Arabs donated RM2.6 billion to Najib to fight off ‘Jewish-backed’ DAP because DAP was a threat to Islam in the country.

“Does Abdul Aziz think that Umno has degenerated to become United Morons National Organisation and no more United Malays National Organisation as to believe in such trash by a power-hungry Umno neophyte who has no political principles or scruples to concoct bald-faced lies and falsehoods?” Lim asked a statement here.

“But Abdul Aziz did not speak for Umno grassroots or the grassroots in the country... as he was only interested to demonstrate that he qualifies to accelerated political advancements and other perks of office as Najib’s chief boot-slicker in Johor Umno,” the veteran politician added.

At the Sri Gading Umno divisional meeting yesterday, Abdul Aziz, who is the division’s chairman, told delegates that the RM2.6 billion donation found in Najib’s private accounts had been put there to help Umno fight the DAP, which he alleged is backed by Jewish funders.

“If we had lost in the elections, Jewish-backed DAP would have been in power... Fellow Muslim leaders recognised the DAP threat.

“If Malaysia’s Muslim government fell, the world’s Islamic struggle will crumble,” he was quoted saying in Malaysiakini.

DAP’s national organising secretary Anthony Loke later issued a statement to deny this, saying his party is not backed by foreign funds.

Today, Lim insisted that Abdul Aziz’s voice does not represent all three million Umno members nationwide.

He noted that over the past two weeks, there have been other leaders who have spoken out to demand answers from their leaders.

Yesterday, Lim noted, former minister Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal had warned leaders against apple-polishers.

“I believe that the three million Umno members want Umno to ‘Save Malaysia’ by transforming itself into a United Malaysians National Organisation instead of degenerating into Abdul Aziz Kaprawi’s United Morons National Organisation,” the Gelang Patah MP said.
