KUALA LUMPUR, July 28 — Prasarana Malaysia Berhad is expecting information today (Tuesday) from train manufacturer, Bombardier, and brake manufacturer, Knorr-Bremse AG, on two incidents last week involving brake failure in Light Rail Transit (LRT) trains along the Kelana Jaya Line route.
Rapid Rail CEO, Ahmad Nizam Mohamed Amin, said the companies had promised to provide answers on the incidents which occurred on Wednesday.
“’They have promised to answer us by tomorrow (Tuesday),” he said in a phone interview yesterday.
He said the companies responded only after the incidents when two trains caught fire after their brakes were believed to have failed.
“The companies had been hard to reach before that,’he said.
According to a report on March 1, the company had been trying to engage the manufacturers since last year on the issue of brake failure but had not got a response.
The report also stated that a system design flaw could have led to the problem involving brakes.
