KOTA KINABALU, July 9 — A woman, believed to be in her 20s, was discovered half-naked and lying unconscious in a drain in Penampang, Sabah at noon today fuelling rumours she may have been sexually attacked.

Passers-by alerted the police after spotting the woman in the drain located near a seafood restaurant; she was said to be dressed only in her bra with her bottom uncovered.

Photos of the incident have since spread on Facebook and mobile phone text application Whatsapp though the woman’s identity is yet unknown.

“She is recuperating at the hospital at the moment and is too traumatised to speak to anyone,” Penampang district police chief deputy superintendent Rosley Hobden said.

Police are investigating the case under Section 326 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing grievous harm.
