ALOR SETAR, April 5 ― The late Datuk Tan Huat Seang, one of the victims in the helicopter crash yesterday was known by many as a diligent person who kept a low profile.

According to a family friend met at his residence in Taman Golf here last night, the late housing developer shunned publicity despite heading a private housing company, SP Baiduri Sdn Bhd.

Based in Bandar Amanjaya, Sungai Petani, Kedah, the company had implemented various housing projects in Kedah including the 1Malaysia People's Housing Scheme (PR1MA) in Sungai Petani.

PR1MA Corporation Malaysia chairman Tan Sri Jamaluddin Jarjis was also among the victims in the crash which claimed six lives.

It is learnt that SP Baiduri was in the midst of building 1,000 units of houses under the PR1MA project in Sungai Petani.

“The late Datuk Tan is a very low profile person who does not like publicity. He was always hard at work,” said a family friend who declined to be named.

He said, Tan, however, was very passionate about high-powered cars and had a collection of luxury cars, including a Lamborghini and a Ferrari, at home.
