KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 18 — The International Trade and Industry Ministry aims to raise Malaysia’s profile in South Korea through trade promotions, its Minister, Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed today.

He said the ministry plans to expand the country’s profile in different regions in South Korea, where Malaysia is not well-known.      

“We need to do a lot more to enhance Malaysia’s profile in South Korea. We need to go to other cities. Malaysia is well-known in the big cities and among the bigger companies.  

“We also need to provide a lot more opportunities for small and medium enterprises in Malaysia,” he said in his keynote address at the Korea Biz Dialogue today.            

The one-day forum was attended by about 120 Malaysian government officials and private sector experts to provide Korean investors with useful information on doing business in Malaysia.              

The second edition Korea Biz Dialogue is jointly organised by the Korean Embassy, the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Korean Chamber of Commerce and Korea Business Center Kuala Lumpur.               

“This programme, will contribute in no small measure towards raising Malaysia’s profile in Korea and promote closer bilateral relations,” said Mustapa.           

He also presented a CSR award to Samsung Electronics Malaysia.        

“This award is important to create greater awareness among Malaysian companies towards enhancing their CSR activities, which is to promote healthy competition among companies,” he added. — Bernama
