PUTRAJAYA, July 20 — Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Anifah Aman and a special team from Wisma Putra are to leave for Ukraine early tomorrow to work out access for the Malaysian investigation team to the Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 crash site.     

Anifah and the eight-member team are scheduled to depart at 12.30am. The foreign minister is expected to meet the Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin tomorrow to ensure that the negotiations to facilitate the recovery operation proceeded smoothly. 

Anifah will be in Ukraine until Wednesday.

Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai left for Ukraine with a six-member delegation, including Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) director-general Datuk Azharuddin Abdul Rahman, Malaysia Airlines chairman Tan Sri Md Nor Yusof and investigators yesterday to assist the Malaysian team in the operation following the crash of MH17.

MH17 which was carrying 283 passengers and 15 crew members, is believed to have been shot down in the Donetsk region, eastern Ukraine, while on its way from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur.

The Boeing 777 left Amsterdam at 12.15pm (local time) on Thursday and was scheduled to arrive at the KL International Airport at 6.10am (Malaysian time) on Friday. — Bernama
