KUALA LUMPUR, March 6 — Kuala Lumpur is the latest city to dance to Pharrell Williams’ exuberant pop song “Happy”.

In the KL version of the Despicable Me 2 soundtrack, which remains number one for the second week on the US Billboard Hot 100 song chart, people of various ethnicities are featured dancing through parks, alleyways, bridges, and on the streets.

The KL treatment of the infectious beat by the African-American singer was released yesterday on YouTube by Lowyat TV.

“A thousand thanks to all those who participated, you guys make Kuala Lumpur an awesome place to live in!” the video producers wrote on YouTube.

Williams’ “Happy” video featuring ordinary people dancing on the streets of Los Angeles, which was released last December, has sparked copycat videos throughout the world, with people tapping their feet to the beat in cities like Paris, Hong Kong, Belfast, Abu Dhabi, Beijing, Moscow, and even in various cities in conflict-ridden Tunisia.
