SYDNEY, Sept 2 — From Marilyn Monroe to Dita von Teese, pin-up girls have been displayed on walls and billboards for generations and admired by men and women alike.

Pin-up fashion evokes a sexier, more exaggerated version of the ‘50s housewife aesthetic including candy-coloured dresses, high heels, perfectly coiffed hair, and precisely applied make-up among others.

BuzzFeed Australia sent four staff members to Sherbet Birdie, a pin-up photography studio in Sydney, and gave them a transformation to see what they could learn about the pin-up style — and themselves — along the way.

One thing’s for sure, you’ll need to balance style with natural beauty, grace, and confidence to channel your inner pin-up girl.
