LONDON, Aug 9 — Things are heating up at the West Dean Gardens Chilli Festival in the UK.

Lovers of all things hot and spicy, came to the Chilli Fiesta to try or to buy the hottest-selling chillies.

A fiesta visitor says: “It's very intense. It's gone right to my head. I feel like my ears are going to pop. It made me cry, it made my nose run. All in all it's lovely.”

If you can stand the heat, there are about 250 varieties of chillies on display — all different in size, shape, colour and flavour.

There are also plenty of chilli sauces and other products to tempt your tastebuds.

Nick Woods, a fiesta vendor, says: “There's one for everybody, from low/medium heat with great flavor to obviously the Reaper which is the world's hottest. So I think people's perceptions of chillis have changed — they're not just chilli and hot now. It's chilli and flavour, chilli and smoke, chilli and heat — it's got everything.”
