KUALA LUMPUR, July 8 — No Hari Raya celebration is complete without the taste of lemang, glutinous rice cooked inside bamboo over a charcoal or wood fire.
While thousands of Malaysians are no doubt enjoying the Malay dish in their kampungs over the long weekend this Hari Raya Puasa, those based in the Klang Valley can get their fill right here too at Lemang Corner Ori in Jalan PJS2, Taman Dato Harun in Petaling Jaya, Selangor.
Five stalls that were previously scattered locations in the predominantly Malay neighbourhood are now centralised in a strip along the main road shoulder and have been in business since July 1 and will stay there for the rest of the month.
Eat it either with serunding ayam or daging (chicken and beef floss) or even rendang for a more flavoursome bite, which is also sold at the stalls.
Now you don’t have to worry about missing masakan kampung if you can’t go home this Raya. The kampung has come to the city!
