SEOUL, Aug 26 — At the upcoming IFA event in Germany, the South Korean manufacturer will unveil the G3 Stylus, a more affordable version of its flagship smartphone. In addition to boasting its own dedicated stylus, the new model differs from the original through its lower resolution screen and lack of 4G support.
The LG G3 Stylus offers a 5.5-inch screen with a resolution of just 960x540 pixels. The phone runs Android KitKat (4.4.2) and is equipped with a 1.3-GHz quad-core processor, a 13MP camera and 8GB of memory (expandable through MicroSD card).
With specs like these, the LG G3 Stylus is certainly no match for the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 in terms of features and performance. But the LG device is nonetheless a more affordable option for those looking for a phablet that comes with a stylus.
Designed primarily for emerging markets, the LG G3 Stylus will launch in Brazil in September before being rolled out to other countries worldwide. Pricing details have not been revealed.
For its part, Samsung will present the successor to the Galaxy Note 3 at IFA 2014. The new phablet is rumored to have a 5.7-inch screen with 2560x1440 pixels. Other features expected on the Galaxy Note 4 include a fingerprint reader like the one seen on the Galaxy S5 and possibly even an ultraviolet sensor.
