SHAH ALAM, Dec 29 — Liberian import Francis Forkey Doe who had played for Selangor in 2013 is among foreign players in Selangor’s radar to strengthen the team’s attack next season.
Selangor head coach P. Maniam hoped the Selangor Football Association (FAS) can retain Nigerian defender Ugo Ukah who had good leadership skills and command on the pitch.
“We need a strong central defender like Ugo Ukah who has good character and leadership on the field and also two foreign strikers to partner Andik Vermansah of Indonesia,” said Maniam after a scoreless pre-season friendly between Selangor and Sime Darby FC at the Sime Darby FC training ground at Bukit Jelutong, here today.
Commenting on the outcome of the match, Maniam was satisfied with the compatibility shown by a combination of young and experienced players after three days of training, but conceded several weaknesses need to be rectified.
Sharing his views was Sime Darby FC chief coach Ahmad Yusof who was contented with the result today after the squad had undergone training since the middle of the month.
Sime Darby FC were relegated to the FAM Cup competition after finishing last in the 12-team Premier League competition this season. — Bernama
