KUALA TERENGGANU, July 12 — The Terengganu government will give more incentive if the state’s contingent becomes champion of the 18th Malaysia Games (Sukma).

Mentri Besar Ahmad Razif Abd Rahman said another RM1,000 will be given to the state athletes who win gold medals in Sukma from July 22 to 31 in Sarawak.

“The incentive of RM5,000 for winning the gold medal, RM4,000 for silver medal and RM3,000 for bronze medal remains. This means that if Terengganu becomes champion, the gold medal winners will get RM6,000 each,” he told reporters after handing over the state’s flag here, yesterday.

Also present were State Youth and Sports Committee chairman Datuk Rozi Mamat, Terengganu Sukma chef de-mission Datuk Mohd Noor Ibrahim and state financial officer Datuk Wan Nawawi Wan Ismail.

Terengganu aims to collect 53 gold, 36 silver and 48 bronze medals from the 24 sporting events participated. — Bernama
