LOS ANGELES, Feb 21 — Freeform, the American cable television channel owned by the Disney-ABC Television Group division of The Walt Disney Company, has given the green light for female-led comedy Girls Code (working title).
The project was written and created by Kim Rosenstock, a writer-producer for New Girl who has also worked on Netflix's breakout wrestling comedy GLOW. Paul Feig, known for writing and directing comedy films like Bridesmaids, as well as the cult classic TV series Freaks and Geeks, is attached to direct the pilot and executive produce.
The series spotlights the partnership between a tech CEO and a community-building social entrepreneur who, despite personality clashes, must band together to co-run an all-female tech incubator.
The half-hour comedy, which hails from Anonymous Content, Paramount Television, and Feigco Entertainment, has been in development at Freeform since October.
Freeform programming will, among other slated shows, include Black-ish spinoff grown-ish, and buddy comedy Alone Together from The Lonely Island. — AFP-Relaxnews
