LOS ANGELES, April 6 — Netflix has dropped the first trailer for Anne, its reimagining of the beloved Anne of Green Gables novel.
The highly-anticipated adaptation of Lucy Maud Montgomery’s 1908 coming-of-age novel will begin streaming in May.
Told across eight episodes, the story focuses on orphan Anne Shirley Cuthbert (played by Amybeth McNulty), who is accidentally sent to a small Nova Scotia town to live with a pair of ageing siblings who had planned to adopt a boy to help work their farm (the titular Green Gables).
Over time, the 13-year-old will transform the lives of Marilla (Geraldine James) and Matthew Cuthbert (RH Thomson) and eventually the entire small town in which they live with her unique spirit, fierce intellect and brilliant imagination.
Anne begins streaming May 12 on Netflix.
