LOS ANGELES, July 22 — The creators behind the modern remake of the 1980s/90s hit series MacGyver have hinted that original star Richard Dean Anderson may appear in the new episodes, slated for a autumn of 2016 launch (via Variety).

Speaking as part of the CBS Comic-Con panel, Executive producer Peter Lenkov said: “We’re hoping to get him on the show... That’s our plan”.

The creative team also added that the new series will keep the spirit of the original — catering to a perceived niche in the current television arena for a positive hero who “only resorts to violence when he has to.”

“MacGyver in his first incarnation was a hero who was unique to the TV landscape,” one who is upbeat, Lenkov said. “I think if you look at the landscape, there’s a void for that kind of hero.” — AFP-Relaxnews
