Wong Kar-wai to make foray into web content with new series

HONG KONG, June 2 — Wong Kar-wai has inked a deal for his first web series.

According to Variety, the series will be made as part of a new agreement between the award-winning auteur and Huanxi Media.

It is understood that Wong will produce and partly direct the new series, which currently has no English-language title.

Huanxi told Variety that the series would include two seasons, with a total of 18 episodes, and will be made under Wong’s Master China Films company.

The 57-year-old award-winning filmmaker is renowned for his artful kung fu flicks like The Grandmaster and moody dramas such as In the Mood for Love.

No other details were released at time of writing.
