LOS ANGELES, Oct 21 ― Kate Winslet is not afraid of the truth and wants the world to see what she really looks like.
The “Titanic” star has always been very vocal in ensuring that her pictures for magazine spreads and ads are not retouched. So it’s no huge surprise that her L’Oréal contract includes a clause to ensure her Lancôme ads are free of any additional editing to her appearance.
Winslet recently told Net-a-Porter that she oversees the editing process for her Lancôme ads and gets them to fix the lighting in the shoot if she feels it’s blurring out her wrinkles.
“I’m baffled that anyone might not think women get more beautiful as they get older,” says Winslet. “Confidence comes with age, and looking beautiful comes from the confidence someone has in themselves.”
Winslet explained to E! recently on why she’s so adamant on not having her images retouched. “I can only ever speak for myself and I can only ever do things that are important to me and it’s a hope that other people might follow suit but it does feel important to me because I do think we have a responsibility to the younger generation of women.
“I think they do look to magazines, I think they do look to women who have been successful in their chosen careers and they want people to look up to, and I would always want to be telling the truth about who I am to that generation because they’ve got to have strong leaders.
“We’re all responsible for raising strong young women, so these are things that are important to me.”
