BEIJING, May 31 — It must be love: For the first time in her 18-year-career, Fan Bingbing has gone public with her love life, The Straits Times reported on Friday.
As is de rigueur for any celebrity worth his or her salt these days, the Chinese actress and her “The Empress of China” co-star Li Chen chose to confirm their coupledom on popular China microblogging site Weibo.
The 36-year-old actor posted a selfie taken by Fan of the couple, both in white, on his Weibo page, with a simple caption “Us”, on Friday.
She then shared his post on her own Weibo page.
At the time of writing, Li’s post generated over 340,000 likes and was forwarded over a million times.
In the hit 96-episode historical drama, Fan plays empress Wu Zetian — the only woman in Chinese history to rule as an emperor — while Li is a general. She is also credited as the show’s producer.
With Fan topping Forbes’ China Celebrity List for three years, and Li ranked No. 19 on the same list, it looks like the Chinese entertainment scene has just welcomed its newest power couple.
