Actor, director, writer, artist, musician… when does James Franco even find time to go on dates? Yet somehow, the quirky star has managed to fit in romance with a number of beauties over the years.
In 1999, he met actress Marla Sokoloff on the set of ‘Whatever It Takes’. The two were an item for several years, even sharing an apartment. Years later, James recalled in an interview that the couple had made a sex tape together, though he neglected to mention whether a copy might still exist.
After rumored flings with Sienna Miller and Lindsay Lohan, in 2006 Franco began a serious relationship with another beautiful actress named Ahna O’Reilly. The couple stayed together for nearly five years, but when James moved to the east coast to study at New York University, Ahna refused to leave LA. The two split amicably, and James would later ask Ahna to star in his directorial debut, ‘As I Lay Dying’.
The next year, the Hollywood Casanova was seen spending a lot of time with his ‘Spring Breakers’ co-star Ashley Benson, but the two played it coy, refusing to confirm or deny the romance.
A string of tabloid headlines have followed, linking the handsome Franco with everyone from Anne Hathaway and Amanda Seyfried to singer Selena Gomez and ‘Game of Thrones’ star Emilia Clarke. And because he has played a number of gay characters, there were even some reports insisting that he must be a closeted homosexual.
It doesn’t help that the impish actor likes to start some of the rumors himself, such as in 2013 when he posted a photo to Instagram of himself with a mystery woman and teased that it might be the relationship rumor queen herself, Miley Cyrus.
