LOS ANGELES, Feb 27 — A new 30-second video offers a first look at the new series “Fargo” adapted from the Coen brothers’ cult classic film.

Ahead of the premiere of “Fargo” on FX April 15, the teaser video reveals Billy Bob Thornton in the role of Lorne Malvo, a boisterous swindler who will bring nothing but trouble to Lester Nygaard, the hen-pecked insurance salesman.

The latter character, played by Martin Freeman, is absent from the video, which focuses primarily on the snowy atmosphere in Bemidji, the Minnesota town where the action in the series takes place. Screenwriter Noah Hawley (“Bones”) maintained the chilly setting and the dark humour that characterised Ethan and Joel Coen’s film while inventing a new plot and new characters.

The series, which consists of 10 episodes for the time being, will also feature Colin Hanks, Kate Walsh, Oliver Platt and Bob Odenkirk. — AFP-Relaxnews
