DEC 1 — Politicians never fail to impress me with their stupidity.

I’m sorry, did I say stupid? I meant their “lack of intelligence.”

I cringe every time I see them on television and I’m not sure whether to laugh, cry or just jump off the bridge when they talk.

One suggested arming religious enforcers with guns, and another supported a 200 per cent increase in assessment rates in KL.

I have no idea why you would ever want to arm religious officers. Is it because they spend most of their time spying on lovers in the dark? I mean can you imagine a group of guys, huddled behind a bush with one shaky hand holding a camera phone and the other a gun?

They may just shoot their load and injure others with all the excitement. (Pun intended.)

The latest is our prime minister who issued Malaysians with an ultimatum. The Star headlines screamed, “It’s either GST or facing bankruptcy.”

Really? But Bernama in March 2013 quoted the PM as saying, “We have been able to buck the external global economic trend. In the last quarter, we achieved 6.4 per cent growth, which indicates the resilience of the national economy.”

What happened in just nine months? What happened to the “resilient” economy that Malaysians have to now choose between GST and bankruptcy?

I respectfully choose neither. I choose door number three.

Behind door number three is a government that is responsible with its spending. One that doesn’t pay RM700 million for AES, billions and billions to consultants and empty corridors.

Definitely not one that dishes out RM1,200 on the one hand and abolishes petrol and sugar subsidies on the other.

Behind the third door is also the resignation of all these politicians. Believe it or not, you have all failed in the court of public opinion, be it on the economic, social, religious or racial integration front.

The third door is as real as our frustration with your ineptitude, and your lack of insight when it comes to leading the country forward.

GST is not a magic pill that will cure our economy. In fact, some have argued that it may actually grind our economy to a halt. To suggest otherwise is irresponsible and shows a lack of understanding vis a vis economic fundamentals on your part.

We, the rakyat, have often been asked to sacrifice for the good of the nation.

It is time for you and your band of merry men to do the same.
