SARIKEI, July 30 — Sarawak Minister of Industrial Development and Entrepreneurship, Trade and Investment, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hassan will lead the state trade delegation to China, in mid-August.
Awang Tengah said the delegation among others will meet with the companies from the republic who had stated their interest to invest in the food industry in Tanjung Manis, the developing halal-hub in the state, during their recent visit to Sarawak.
“They had shown interest (with the potentials and opportunities, here) because Sarawak has busines-friedly policies,” he said in his speech during the Sarikei Division Aidilfitri celebration, here, today. Awang Tengah was representing the Chief Minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem.
Meanwhile, Awang Tengah who is also Sarawak Second Minister of Resource Planning and Environment said the state government had conducted a research to transform Sarikei, Meradong, Julau and the surrounding locations as a ‘food basket’.
Based on the research, he said, the areas could become a producer for the domestic as well as foreign markets. — Bernama
