At 5pm the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) fell 24.66 points to 1,818.27 after fluctuating between 1,818.27 and 1,841.06 throughout the day.
The local bourse will be closed tomorrow and next Monday for Labour Day and Wesak Day.
The Finance Index fell 159.59 points to 16,113.78, Plantation Index declined 68.99 points to 7,595.52 and the Industrial Index eased 38.00 points to 3,363.50.
The FBM Emas Index dropped 124.62 points to 12,539.04, FBMT100 Index trimmed 134.13 points to 12,220.51 and the FBM Emas Syariah Index decreased 110.53 points to 13,073.91.
The FBM Ace lost 37.48 points to 6,988.01 and the FBM 70 was 28.54 points lower at 13,615.70.
There were 422 gainers and 372 losers, with 329 counters unchanged, 695 counters untraded and 35 others suspended.
Total volume decreased to 1.52 billion shares worth RM2.17 billion from yesterday's 1.59 billion shares worth RM1.9 billion.
Among actives, DGB Asia eased 1.5 sen to nine sen, Frontken fell one sen to 26.5 sen, Bioaplha inched down 2.5 sen to 37 sen and Vsolar was flat at 25.5 sen.
Of the heavyweights, Maybank fell nine sen to RM9.21, TNB lost 10 sen to RM14.36, Public Bank declined by 22 sen to RM19.48 and Axiata slipped nine sen to RM6.74.
Main Market volume decreased to 914.37 million units worth RM2.05 billion from yesterday's 945.81 million units worth RM1.74 billion.
Turnover on the ACE Market fell to 501.92 million shares valued at RM110.22 million versus 564.17 million shares valued at RM138.86 million yesterday.
Warrants rose to 98.75 million units worth RM14.52 million against 74.17 million units worth RM13.54 million yesterday.
Consumer products accounted for 55.57 million shares traded on the Main Market, industrial products (219.32 million), construction (59.68 million), trade and services (367.90 million), technology (50.65 million), infrastructure (22.32 million), SPAC (6.41 million), finance (59.24 million), hotels (1.28 million), properties (51.97 million), plantations (13.53 million), mining (59,000), REITs (6.44 million) and closed/fund (0). — Bernama
