KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 1 ― The prices of daily consumer goods nationwide remain under control as the year enters its second month.
According to http://www.1pengguna.com portal, a kilogramme of cleaned standard chicken was priced between RM3.88 and RM6.20 in Kuala Lumpur, while live chicken was priced for less than RM8 per kg.
The same item was sold in Johor, Melaka, Pahang and Kedah at between RM5.98 and RM8.50 per kg, while standard chicken was sold between RM8 and RM10 per kg in Sabah and Sarawak.
M-size black pomfret was sold in Selangor at a price between RM16.90 and RM19.90 in supermarkets and between RM15 and RM24 per kg in wet markets.
A kilogramme of large Indian red onion would cost between RM0.99 and RM6.99 in Kuala Lumpur, but the same item was retailed not more than RM6 per kg in Sabah and Sarawak.
A kilogramme of Chinese garlic was sold at a price between RM1.88 and RM9 in Kuala Lumpur, Negeri Sembilan (RM1.88-RM7), Penang (RM2.55-RM5), Perlis (RM2.90-RM5), Kelantan (RM2.48-RM7) and Terengganu (RM3.50-RM6).
Red chili was priced between RM6.25 and RM26.90 per kg nationwide, while local round cabbage was priced between RM1.75 and RM5.99 in the peninsula compared to between RM1.69 and RM5 in Sabah and Sarawak.
The portal also listed the price of 10 Grade A eggs at between RM3.20 and RM4.99 nationwide.
Tomatoes were sold between RM3.88 and RM5.99 at supermarkets and between RM4.50 and RM5.50 at wet markets in Selangor.
The portal run by the Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry allows the public to check the price of goods in the market and help them manage their expenses amid the rising cost of living.
