SEPANG, Jan 27 — Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) is on track to become a high-performing entity by July 2015 as set out by Khazanah Nasional Bhd recently.

MAHB Chief Financial Officer Faizal Mansor said the airport operator has been observing its operations outlined under Khazanah’s “rainbow-coloured books” in terms of improving its operations.

“We are setting the path towards that (becoming regional champion) as well as with our investments in India and in Turkey and so on.

“We have the right things in place, we are looking to grow this business in this area even further. We are in the right path to graduate,” he told reporters after announcing MAHB’s fourth quarter financial performance today.

MAHB manages and operates 39 airports in Malaysia, five international, 16 domestic and 18 short take-off and landing ports.

On November 30, 1999, MAHB became the first airport company to be listed in Asia.

Last week, Khazanah announced that it wants all the seven government-linked companies (GLCs) under its stable (collectively called K7) to be high-performing entities, with several of these companies emerging as regional champions by July 2015.

The K7 is part of the G20 companies placed under a 10-year transformation programme.

The seven GLCs under Khazanah’s portfolio are Telekom Malaysia Bhd, Axiata Group Bhd, UEM Group Bhd, Tenaga Nasional Bhd, Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd, Malaysia Airlines and CIMB Bhd. — Bernama
