KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 5 — Former Ampang PKR Youth chief Datuk Adam Rosly Abdullah has been blacklisted by the Indonesian embassy from entering the republic following allegations that he abused its citizen whom he had once hired to work in his house.

Adam Rosly said the allegations were “strange, disgusting and irrational” and aimed at tarnishing his and his family’s reputation, The Star reported today.

“She has defamed me by saying that I cruelly injured her and treated her horrendously. These are ill-intended accusations that were made by my domestic helper towards me,” he was quoted as saying.

He added that he and his family have cooperated with the police by giving statements and providing CCTV recordings that would refute these allegations.

“We have provided proof of how we have taken care of her health to show that we have always treated all our domestic helpers well,” he was quoted as saying.

Selangor police chief Commissioner Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said the 54-year-old Indonesian woman had filed a complaint on August 22 claiming she had been abused by a Malaysian politician and businessman.

“The investigation paper has been referred to the deputy public prosecutor, and several instructions have been given, which we are in the midst of completing to finish our investigation,” Hussein was quoted as saying.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, who is also PKR secretary-general, was reported saying he would leave all investigations to the police.

He also said he would need to check if Adam Rosly is still a PKR member.

“If he is a member, the party has a process we need to carry out,” Saifuddin was quoted as saying.

Indonesian Ambassador to Malaysia who goes by only one name, Hermono, confirmed the politician was on the travel blacklist, the newspaper reported.

“Yes, the politician has been placed on the blacklist. The politician should also show evidence that he applied for her permit and paid the salary of his maid.

“The maid also claimed that her passport is with her previous employer,” Hermono was quoted as saying.

Hermono also said the complainant is still in Malaysia and under the protection of the Indonesian Embassy here which has appointed a lawyer to represent her as his country’s Immigration authorities have no record of her passport.

“Which means she could not have had a work permit from the Malaysian authorities,” he was quoted as saying.

It is an offence in Malaysia to hire an undocumented foreigner as a worker.
