KUALA LUMPUR, May 6 — The Malaysian Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC) brought home the “Medical Travel Organisation of the Year Award” for the second year in a row yesterday at the annual Asia Pacific Healthcare and Medical Tourism Awards in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam.

MHTC’s Chief Commercial Officer Yazmin Azman said that receiving the award for the second time consecutively was an honour and that it solidified MHTC’s role as an agency of choice in the global arena.

“Truly, we see Malaysia gaining more traction and popularity as a leading global destination for healthcare. At the same time, it bodes well for MHTC to gain recognition for the role we play as an agency operating with the full support of the Ministry of Health,” she said.

“The award is a further testament to the agency’s success at garnering global acknowledgement within international healthcare travel, adding to Malaysia’s long list of accolades.”

Previously, the International Living’s Annual Global Retirement Index 2015-2017 had voted Malaysia as the “Best Country in the World for Healthcare,” explained Yazmin.

Malaysia was also ranked the fifth best place to retire in the world.

MHTC was chosen on grounds that they had provided consistently high quality care throughout the year and had pushed the boundaries in providing for the needs of their customers.

The four-tiered judging process also included evaluation of the organisations through interviews on their current market position, future growth plans, achievements and company performance.
