IPOH, Feb 16 — Police quick response to a burglar alarm which triggered at a goldsmith shop at Jalan Kledang, Menglembu led to the arrest of four Chinese nationals who were attempting to break into a neighbouring pawnshop here, early this morning.

Ipoh police chief ACP Mohd Ali Tamby said, in the 4.15am incident, a police team who was at the scene in less than a minute, found the back door of the goldsmith shop ajar.

“Three suspects were found hiding on the roof, while another accomplice was waiting in a get-away car parked near the premises.

“Initial investigations revealed that the suspects tried to get into the pawnshop by knocking down the wall of the goldsmith shop but to their surprise, the security system alarm went off,” he told Bernama here today.

Various carpentry tools, cash and two cars, a Proton Wira and a Toyota Avanza were also seized.
