JOHOR BARU, Jan 14 — The flood situation in Johor has further worsened overnight with 1,395 people from 376 families in 13 floods relief centres (FRCs) in three districts as compared to 1,245 people last night,

State Health, Environment, Education and Information Committee chairman Datuk Ayub Rahmat in a statement here said 103 evacuees from 22 families were being sheltered at four FRCs in Segamat; 1,261 victims from 347 families in eight FRCs in Mersing and 31 people from seven families in one FRC in Kota Tinggi.

He said Sekolah Kebangsaan Punan in Kluang had to be closed today because floodwaters cut access to the school and that SK Ladang Mutiara and SK Seri Sedohok in the same district were also affected but were still operational.

He added that Jalan Telok Arung in Mersing was still closed due to a landslide and advised motorists to use Jalan Tanjung Resang-Jalan Mersing or Endau-Jalan Air Papan as alternatives.
