KUALA TERENGGANU, Jan 6 — A total RM380,000 is needed by the Terengganu Education Department to repair damage to several schools due to the monsoon season since November.

Its director, Shafruddin Ali Hussain, said the schools were damaged not only by the floods as strong winds wrecked their roof and ceiling.

“We found that six schools in several districts have various types of damage, including blown-off roof, collapsed ceiling and ruined fences.

“We have applied for the allocation from the Education Ministry and repair works are underway with its permission,” he said.

Safruddin was met by reporters after a function at the Islamic Civilisation Park Convention Hall which was also attended by Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman.

During the event, 10 awards were given out in appreciation of the deeds of teachers and excellent students last year. — Bernama
