GEORGE TOWN, Nov 29 ― The Pakatan Harapan Penang government announced today RM100,000 in flood aid relief to Kelantan, reciprocating the RM50,000 cash gift from the PAS-led state earlier this month.

Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng said state executive councillor Datuk Abdul Malik Abul Kassim will represent Penang to hand over RM50,000 to the Kelantan government.

“The remaining RM50,000 will be handed over to the non-governmental organisations in Kelantan,” Lim told reporters here.

The DAP secretary-general also said he hoped flood-struck Kelantan will not be as devastated as Penang in the November 4 and 5 floods.

On a separate matter, Lim said the state executive council has approved opening up application for the RM700 one-off flood cash payment to non-citizens who hold the red identity cards (IC).

“Even though they are red IC holders, some of them are born here and they live here so those who were affected may also apply for the one-off payment,” he said.

It was earlier announced that the registration for the one-off payment under the state's Penang Bangkit programme is now open and closing date is December 2.

Penang Bangkit flood relief programme coordinator Yap Soo Huey said they have received a total 38,248 applications as at 8am today.

“Those who has yet to register have until December 2 to do so,” she said.

Registration for the payment can be done online through penangbangkit.com.
