KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 29 — All disaster management agencies in the country have been rated “10 out of 10” by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi in terms of preparing for floods, especially in the east coast.
“From a scale of one to 10, the agencies stand at 10 in terms of preparedness level,” he told reporters in Parliament today.
He said that the agencies had prepared a checklist in terms of aid to be distributed to victims and have also mobilised their assets in flood-prone areas.
“We have given the task and responsibilities to each agency,” he said.
Zahid is also the National Disaster Committee Chairman.
Floods has been getting progressively worse in Kelantan and Terengganu for the past few days due to the monsoon rain, with the number of flood evacuees in Kelantan climbing above 5,000.
