KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 29 — The ‘Datuk Seri’ who allegedly hit three on-duty Rela volunteers last Friday morning should have his title revoked, the Council of Federal Datuks said today.

The Star Online quoted its president Tan Sri Danny Ooi as saying that any individual with good standing and holding a title should not resort to such actions.

“They must respect people in uniform. I hope if this news goes back to the Ruler who awarded the title, it should be taken away from the man,” Ooi reportedly told a press conference during the council’s anniversary charity dinner tonight.

Ooi also said that the individual was not a member of the council.

“Our members are those conferred titles by the King at federal level,” he explained, adding that the council will be meeting the police over the problem of conferment of dubious titles.

“We hope the police can set up a hotline so that the public can give a tip-off whenever they identify those found using fake titles,” he said.

The ‘Datuk Seri’ had allegedly beat up the three Rela members after he lost his cool when they supposedly ‘did not show him respect’.
