KUALA LUMPUR, June 13 ― Remand has been extended for five youths arrested for the alleged assault and sodomy of an 18-year-old student in Penang that left him brain dead.
The Star Online reported that deputy registrar Ahmad Tajudin Zain in George Town granted a further one-day remand for two of the teenagers, while the others were remanded for another three days.
A group of teenagers allegedly beat up T. Nhaveen and his 19-year-old friend, T. Previin, in Bukit Gelugor last Saturday with helmets and sticks.
Previin reportedly escaped with some injuries, but Nhaveen was left brain dead and doctors said the latter was also sodomised and had burns on his back.
